Our world is experiecing a crisis like no other. We have to go back to the Spanish flu, about a hundred years ago, to see a pandemic like that, or watch a Hollywood film.

Unfortunately this is the world we live in and it is not a writer’s imagination.

We all know what we have to do. Minimize contact with people, stay at home, sanitize what needs to be sanitized …. Be carefull in general. Quarantine has been implemented at regions of Italy, and of course at Wuhan, China.

An economic crisis. It’s the austerity, stupid

At this point it is not only a health crisis, but also an economic one. Capitalism is crumbling, and one of the many root causes is austerity policies.

During the past ten years many countries minimized the percentage of GDP spent for health. Consider that the population is growing older and you have a bomb ready to explode. Unfortunately, it did and we are living the results.

We do not know how things will end. Hopefully we will overcome this pandemic, but unless we fix the system inevitably we will experience similar crises again.
